American Museum of Natural History in New York: Biodiversity Project
The New York Museum of Natural History, in conjunction with design firm
Ralph Applebaum Associates, Inc., engaged the services of Matte World Digital
to develop new concepts for the next generation of diorama exhibits.
MWD constructed a full scale rain forest environment integrating
multimedia and high definition projections of real animals photographed in their natural
habitats.
Drawing upon years of experience working with
film projection
and the realisitc lighting of sets, the challenge of creating a tropical jungle
in which the viewer is actually immersed was an exciting project to pioneer.
Viewers can walk through a realistic forest environment to observe
a Silverback Gorilla in full motion, foraging for food.
